When 20 Minutes = Five Cents + 15 Hours In Jail

A Georgia man is little charged up about spending 15 hours in jail for plugging his electric car into a public outlet at his son's tennis practice.

Some say the officers' decision sets a dangerous precedent, especially considering how many of us charge our cell phones while on the go.

The story began when the Atlanta-based dad was waiting outside his son's school to pick him up from tennis practice.

Dad had some time to burn, and the car needed some juice.  The school had an outlet on one of the outside walls and he decided to plug the vehicle in.

That's when …

How To Get Arrested: Man Butt Dials Intended Victim While Plotting His Murder

A 68 year-old Arkansas man has found himself behind bars after butt-dialing the the person he intended to have killed.

Defendant Larry Barnett was completely unaware that he'd called the target victim from his back pocket, but man, did this guy get an earful.  Police records show the intended target listened in on the call for about an hour and a half.

Barnett not only provided a hit man an accurate description of the victim,  he also gave directions to the guy's house.

Suffice to say, he called police as soon as the call was over.   Police were reportedly told that Barnett …

It is Illegal to Impersonate a Clergy Member

When you think of people committing criminal acts, getting caught in priestly garb doesn’t exactly spring to mind.

After all, how profitable can it be to pretend to be a clergy member?

Plus, think of the karma (pun intended).

Apparently, there are some out there who think that dressing up us a priest can go a long way in lining their pockets with the minimum amount of work.

For some, they may be right. They find that it is much easier to get people to donate to their “charity” if people believe that they are a leader in the church.

Plus, parking at Kaiser …

OCSD Deputies Get Call From Escort Who Got Stiffed, Say Man Torched Wife's Clothes After Getting Burned
The Orange County Sheriff's Department has had a few busy days on their hands.

First, they say a Rancho Santa Margarita man had taken a rather interesting approach to dealing with a marital spat.

The couple apparently got into a heated argument last weekend after enjoying a few too many adult beverages, and after the husband decided to smoke some pot.

Booze reportedly fueled arguments rarely end well, and this one is believed to have landed the man in jail.

It all started after the pair got …

What Not To Do: Fast Food Worker Goes To Jail After Spitting On A Cop’s Sandwhich

What Not To Do: Fast Food Worker Goes To Jail After Spitting On A Cop’s Sandwhich

You would think something like this would fall into the category of common sense.

However, one 24-year old former fast food worker needed to learn his lesson the hard way.  It all started during the summer of 2012 when former McDonald's employee Dalton Urselean decided to spit in the sandwich of an on-duty officer.

Police reports have not indicated what prompted the oral assault, nor did they say how the officer came to learn of the offense.

Either way, the  policeman said he didn't order a side of spittle with his meal.

Court records reportedly show that Urselean submitted to a blood pathogen …

Typhoon Offers Swim To Freedom

Philippine jailers never planned on adding an Olympic-sized swimming pool to the local detention center.

Unfortunately, the recent super typhoon not only took countless neighborhoods, it also smashed through the prison's main gate and flooded the premises.  This is bad news for corrections officers, who say that after the storm stuck, nearly 120 inmates swam their way to freedom.

Staff members said that as the tide began to rise, they were left with no other option than to allow inmates out of their cells in order to swim to higher ground.

Some took the honest option and fled to higher floors.  Others …

Mayor, It’s Time For Your Nap

Politics is not just for the birds - it's for the toddlers
Races for political office can get quite contentious.

There are mudslinging and radio ads, television ads and lawn signs galore.

The town of Dorset, Minnesota, however, have decided that a much easier and less stressful way to elect its new political leader was to simply hold an annual drawing.

Throughout the summer months, residents of the 28-person town can throw their names into the proverbial hat for $1 per entry.

In August, during the Taste of Dorset festival, a name is drawn from the hat and the selected person is named mayor …

Man Sues Officers Who Believed His Jolly Ranchers Were Meth

A New York city resident has filed a lawsuit against the NYPD after he was detained for possession of a sweet substance.

Love Olatunjiojo was arrested earlier this year after he was stopped by officers, who discovered he had four colorful, crystal rocks on his person.  Those "rocks", he said, were still in their original wrappers that were clearly marked with the words Jolly Rancher Candy.

Regardless, Olatunjiojo was handcuffed, Mirandized, charged with possession of crystal methamphetamine and booked into a local jail.  He spent 24 hours in custody before being released.

The federal lawsuit points out that lab tests revealed the …

Unusual Animal Laws

Even our animals are subject to the laws of the land in this country.

Most of the laws that you will find on the books are more for the protection of the animals, though you will also see a few that can lead to jail time for the animals if they are caught breaking the laws.

From regulations on sleeping bears and hunting camels to animal mating protocol -- apparently, animal behavior cannot be tolerated.

Die hard gamers have been waiting for months to get their hands on the criminal-activity ridden video game Grand Theft Auto V.
