Earlier this week, a Grinch nearly ruined Christmas for a Claremont family, after breaking into their home and stealing all of the presents.

The thieves gained entry to the apartment through a window, according police, and proceeded to unwrap all the gifts and steal the ones they liked most.  They also ran off with the family's home computer.

Officers said that inexpensive items, such as clothes, socks and a soccer ball were the only things the wrongdoers left behind.

A recent editorial in America's Finest City's seems to have pointed out the obvious:  San Diego Police Department officers are not only underpaid, they're among the least paid in the state.

Recruiting and training efforts have done little to help.  At best, according to sources, the only thing it has accomplished involves maintaining the rate of spin on the staffing-revolving-door.

Bring new in officers, providing trained, while qualified and experienced employees run for the hills after getting offers for positions with better hours, pay and compensation packages.

Sources within the San Diego Police Department say a local couple was quite frazzled last weekend after three suspects crashed into their car and then carjacked them.

The incident took place just before 10 p.m. on Saturday night, they said, when the couple was getting off Interstate 5 at the Nobel Drive offramp.

The driver of that car pulled over to exchange insurance information with the vehicle that struck them.  That's when one of the passengers of the other vehicle stepped out, pulled a gun and ordered the couple to hand over their keys, wallets and cell phones.  The woman's purse …

Sources within the San Diego Police Department say the prime suspect in an armed robbery was captured outside the SDPD headquarters.

Earlier this week a Chula Vista store employee approached a man in the parking lot. There was reason to believe he had stolen a handful of things from the store.

The suspect brandished a gun and proceeded to load himself and his wheelchair into a van.

The police were notified and spotted the vehicle getting onto the northbound lanes of Interstate 805.  Officers tried to stop him, but he refused to pull over.
