Representatives from the San Diego Police Department say they're still trying to pinpoint what exactly happened during this year's Comic-Con Zombie Walk, when a car containing deaf passengers sped through an intersection and injured at least one person.

Now, they said, they're reaching out to the public and are asking for their help.

Anyone who has cell phone videos of the incident is asked to step forward, they said, since they're trying to view what transpired from every possible angle.

The basics

Police say it all started on Saturday July 26, when a family was driving through the downtown area.  At some point their car pulled up at an intersection where the walk was taking place, an that, according to the passengers, is when things started to get out of hand.

The driver said some people sat on the hood of his car and started pounding on it.  Moments later, he said, they managed to crack his windshield.

His children, who were located in the back seat of the vehicle, were frightened and he feared for his family's safety.  That, he said, is when he made the decision to roll forward, step on the gas and find the first police officer he could find.

The driver has admitted he panicked but doesn't feel he did anything wrong.  His attorney said his client is not the one to blame in all this; the responsibility falls on the SDPD for allowing an unpermitted parade to take place on city streets.

The San Diego Police Department not yet filed any charges in the case. If the man is arrested he will likely need to post bail bonds in order to be released from jail.
