A San Diego resident's bad night got a heck of a lot worse last weekend after they crashed their car into a SDPD police cruiser at a Pacific Beach checkpoint.

Two other cars were also struck during the accident, according to a department spokesperson.  No one was injured, they said, although the driver was taken into custody and charged with felony drunk driving.

Although most first-time DUI arrests in San Diego require the defendant post $2,500 bail bonds in order to be released from custody that bail amount can jump to $100,000 or more if the driver was in an accident.

The defendant's name has not been released to the public but it's believed their bail bonds was set quite high based on the circumstances surrounding the arrest.

If the drive was male they would have been taken to the San Diego Central Jail in downtown.  A female offender would have been booked at the Las Colinas Detention Facility.

Officers said that more than 1,100 cars and trucks passed through the Friday night checkpoint.  Twelve people were arrested in total.
