Most criminals aren't known for their intellect.  This is especially true for the 41 year-old British man who robbed a gas station while wearing a clear plastic bag over his head.

It is unclear if he did not own a ski mask or if wearing it simply never crossed his mind.

The incident is said to have taken place in September 2012.  It was at that time that clear plastic bag-owner Jamie Neil and a 20 year-old accomplice decided to rob a UK service station.  Police believe both men were drunk and high at the time they executed the plan.   The accomplice decided to wear a scarf to cover his face.  Neil opted for the bag.

This isn't to say the accomplice will be winning any IQ awards any time soon.  This man, Gareth Tilley reportedly tried to "hold up" the attendant by pretending his cell phone was a gun.   The cashier was not fooled and sounded an alarm.  One suspect is said to have head-butted the female employee after she alerted authorities of the crime.  From there, Neil and Tiley grabbed an armful of booze and ran for it.

Video surveillance tapes from the crime were played for local police.  Neil was recognized and subsequently arrested by an off-duty officer a few days later.  The officer said he wasn't hard to pick out, especially since his chosen disguise was see through.

Both defendants have been sentenced to serve about 24-months in prison.
