You would think if a person was aware they had outstanding arrest warrants, making a voluntary trip to county jail would be at the bottom of their to-do list.

But alas, criminals don't always make a smart-decisions list and check it twice, and when they don't, they often find themselves in trouble.

That's exactly what happened last week, when two people involved in shooting a FOX television pilot visited the Cook County Jail.

The first man, 52-year old James Suhajda, was found to have a decades old warrant stemming from an old domestic violence arrest.  The other man, whose name has not been released, was arrested for bringing pot to the jail.

Bringing drugs onto jail property is a felony

(Jails in LA County, California have gone so far as to post signs at the gate warning visitors they'll be arrested if they bring contraband onto the property.  It's... kinda working.)

The second man was reportedly released without being charged.  Suhajda, though, was not so lucky.

Apparently, the wanted man was completely unaware that when you want to gain entry to a jail, there's a good chance the deputies will run a background check on you to make sure you're legit.

So lesson be learned-  if you're trying to evade the law, you should probably avoid police stations, jails and prisons.  And if you do need to visit a corrections facility- you might consider leaving your weed at home.
