A spokesperson for the Novato Police Department said they have captured a man who is believed to have shot and killed an Oakland teen.
Defendant Larry Williams was arrested and booked into the Glenn Dyer Jail earlier this week. It is believed he one of several individuals responsible for the murder of Kenneth Jones. Jones was killed in the West Oakland neighborhood in August 2011. Police say the victim was shot to death outside a convenience store on August 27. The suspects immediately fled the scene of the crime and were not in the area at the time officers responded to the call.
Detectives said that Williams made numerous incriminating statements during his interrogation including several pertaining to his role in the homicide. He is being charged with murder. Bail information was not immediately available but it is believed he will be held in lieu of $1 million bond. Should he or a member of his family wish to hire an Alameda bondsman the cost to purchase a bond will be $100,000, or 10%. The bondsman will likely require a cosigner who has good credit and will also request collateral be posted.
Officers say they arrested a second suspect in late 2011. Video surveillance footage reportedly shows the second man had provided Williams with the gun used to commit the crime. It is believed the shooting may have ben drug related. Prosecutors say Williams has multiple prior convictions for drug sales.
He is scheduled to appear in court later this week. The matter is ongoing.
