Daniel Saulman believes that turnabout is fair play

The Los Angeles Police Department is getting a taste of its own medicine now that a local man says he's bought a drone of his own.

Privacy groups have been completely up in arms about the idea of law enforcement agencies using these things to spy on citizens, but in this case, its owner says the device is being used to keep tabs on the LAPD.

In a recent interview Saulman admitted using his new toy to zoom in on traffic stops, DUI checkpoints and other instances in which he feels, officers could be behaving badly.

Use of spy drones causing an uproar

The LAPD received two drones not that long ago after they were gifted to the department from the Seattle PD.  Residents in that city caused a really big stink after their department bought the and the situation got so tense the city decided to gift them away.

But people in Los Angeles have been equally miffed and even went so far as to down and destroy a drone that had been seen flying over the Staples Center after the Kings won the Stanley Cup.

As it turns out, that was privately owned device that had no connection to local law enforcement.

Representatives from the Los Angeles Police Department said they've decided to temporarily turn over their devices to the Department of Homeland Security until the city can sort out the who, what, when, where and whys of using them.
