There are so many unusual laws out there.

And we just know that it’s because someone (often times a man) has done something that made it necessary to enact a law to stop it.

But that doesn’t mean there aren’t laws that are geared specifically to the ladies.

Well, check the law books before you bring them out of the closet, because in some cities like Carmel California, you must have a (free) permit to wear them inside the city limits.

The law was enacted to prevent people who fall on the city’s irregular sidewalks while wearing high-heeled shoes from suing the city for damages.

If you are someone who prefers to put nothing between yourself and your bed sheets, then living in Minnesota is not the place for you because there it is illegal to sleep naked.

If you’ve ever looked at men who are walking around shirtless in the heat of summer with envy, then you’re in luck!

In most states, it is not illegal for a woman to be topless in public, so long as she is not doing anything illegal (inciting a riot, robbing a bank, committing lewd acts).

Even some of the most conservative states, like Texas, have not made it illegal for women to go topless, though there are some cities that have local laws to make it illegal.

In Oklahoma, if you want to do any gambling you need to have clothes on because it is illegal to gamble in the nude, in a towel or in lingerie.

The rules for getting beaten by your husband

While it is certainly illegal for someone to physically assault another person, some states have overlooked some laws that make it seem okay for a man to beat his wife if he follows the rules.

For example, in South Carolina, it is perfectly alright for him to beat his wife on the steps of the courthouse on Sunday.

Likewise in Virginia and West Virginia, on any day so long as it is before 8:00 pm.

In California, a man must have his wife’s permission to beat her with a strap that is wider than two inches. Because really, more be  excessive to reasonable people and you can get the job done in one inch.

Clearly there are many laws that apply to women which are not suitable to be on the books in this day and age.

Eventually, lawmakers may take the time to comb through them and dispose of them properly.
