Most people who drive while under the influence try to avoid getting caught.

That is, unless you're Lynn Clemens.

Earlier this week, the 46 year-old Alabama resident decided to indulge in quite a few adult beverages.  At some point in the evening, after drinking herself into a sufficient stupor, she decided she needed to go to jail.

Authorities aren't sure why she hoped in her car and sped off to the county jail, although they have pointed out that intoxicated persons don't exactly think with a clear head.

Sheriff's deputies said they found her directly outside of the Jackson County facility.   A spokesperson reportedly said she seemed to have pulled her car up to a secure entrance and exit gate.

This portion of the jail, they said, is where new arrestees are admitted and current ones are discharged.  Deputies said they were initially concerned that the presence of Clemens' vehicle indicated she intended to help break someone out.

They were called to the scene to investigate.  Instead of a would-be accomplice in an attempted jailbreak, they found a very, very inebriated driver.

The defendant was taken inside and booked into the system.  She is being charged with violating the state's open container law in addition to DUI.  Clemens remains in custody in lieu of $1,000 bail.
