Every now and again you'll hear a story about someone getting arrested for something really really silly- like stealing a pack of gum or on a warrant for an old unpaid parking tickets.

But in the case of these two Bay Area teenagers, they figured, if they were going to do something illegal, they were sure as heck going to go big or go home.

It all started last Saturday when 19 year-old friends Nhima Kahsay and Mohannad Halaweh used a fraudulently obtained credit card to rent a McLaren sports car.

At some point, though, the dealership reported it stolen.  That's when Sonoma County Sheriff's Deputies tracked them down.

The pair was taken into custody without incident, according to officers, but they soon found there was much more to this story.

Investigators later found the 19 year-old wanna-be-ballers also used the credit card to rent a $12 million property (racking up an additional $27,000 in fraudulent charges)... because hey, if you're essentially going to steal a sports car, you're going to need a tricked-out crib to park it at.

Suffice to say, both kids were booked into the Sonoma county jail on a whole slew of charges.

Halaweh is being charged with credit card fraud and possession of stolen property.  His bail bonds have been set at $100,000.

Kashay, who was also learned to have warrants, is being held on $60,000 bail bonds but he's expected to face additional charges in the future.
