People are assaulted every day.

Most often, it is simply an assault with a fist or a foot. Other times it can be a baseball bat or a knife or a gun.

Then, there are times when the weapon is something completely unexpected.

Yes, Deer

Domestic disputes are rarely a laughing matter. They often end with arrest and tears.

In 2011, Chelsea Harrison, 23, was arrested for assaulting her live-in ex-boyfriend with a set of deer antlers after he broke down the door to the house the two shared.

Terry Nowakowski said that he and Harrison were only living together for financial reasons and to provide a stable environment for their 3-year-old daughter. Nowakowski believed that Harrison became angry after he walked outside to talk to his girlfriend on the phone so she locked him out of the house.

When he tried to come in through a window, Harrison punched him in the face. He then broke down the door, at which point he was greeted with a pair of deer antlers to the face and body.

Harrison was arrested and charged with domestic battery.

Salmonella Slap

Uncooked chicken is known to cause a lot of digestive trouble. Few reports have been made though of it being used as an assault weapon.

In 2011, a man in California was arrested for throwing a raw chicken as well as a candlestick at his friend. The woman was injured when police responded to the call.

Drew Smith Warner, 49, was arrested and held on $50,000 bail.

Beefy Brawl

There are two kinds of people: the kind who like sliced bread with dinner, and those who prefer a good roll.

Unfortunately for one Florida couple, each of them belonged to the other group.

Elsie Egan, 53, was arrested after assaulting her boyfriend Peter Schabhuttl, 49, with a 10-16 ounce raw steak after he refused a slice of bread with dinner and asked for a roll.

Schabhuttl, who was undergoing treatment for cancer at the time, called police after being slapped with the steak several times.

Egan denied that she used the meat but insisted she used her hand to slap him so that “he could learn.”

Egan was charged with abuse of a disabled adult and released on a $2,500 bond.

Palms Up

Criminals can get a little desperate when they need a weapon for a robbery. Most will use a gun or even just pretend they have a gun with the old “hand in my pocket” ruse. Others will grab a knife or even a baseball bat to take along to intimidate store clerks.

What one Florida clerk was not expecting to see one afternoon in 2008 was a robber armed with part of a palm tree.

The frond-bandit was quickly chased off by a customer with a barstool.

He was later arrested and held on $20,000 bond.
