Passed Out Drunk Driver Caught With Weapons, Drugs

Most criminals try to do their best to avoid the long arm of the law, but that seems not to be the case in Northern California.

A spokesperson for the San Francisco Police Department say an alleged drunk driver has been booked at the Bryant Street Jail after police responded to call about him being passed out in his car.

Officers drove out to the intersection of Fullerton and 40th Avenue and arrived just before midnight.  Witnesses said they'd seen the car swerving about neighborhood streets; they suspected whoever was driving it had a few too many to drink.

In the past few weeks there's been a lot of talk about Jeremy Meeks, a California bad guy whose well-taken mug shot got him a whole lot of attention.

But now, after an amateur photographer snapped a pic of San Francisco Police Department officer Chris Kohrs, the public has some new eye candy to fawn over- and this "hot cop" is on the right side of the legal system.

Taxi! I Need You To Take Me To 7-Eleven So I Can Rob It

It's not often that a person hails a cab to bring them to a hold up.

That is, unless you're 25 year-old Ariana Bolmer.  The incident took place last week.  Although it's unclear how she came up with the plan, it's assumed she realized her wallet was as bare as her pantry.

Bolmer proceeded to hatch what she believed was a fool-proof heist.

Dog Wash To Benefit SFPD K-9 Unit

A weekend dog wash that aims to raise $150,000 will donate all of its proceeds to help benefit canine units, including one within the SFPD.

The event will take place at Pet Food Express stores.  It serves a dual purpose- getting the stinky dog smell off your pet and helping provide much needed funds for law enforcement dogs.  The full cost of the wash will be donated.

The primary benefit organization is called the Police and Working K-9 Foundation.  The Foundation provides funding to a number of local units, including those at the Contra Costa County Sheriff's Department and the SFPD.

SFPD Arrest Naked BART Passenger, Bail Set At $100K

A 24 year-old San Francisco man who was arrested last month for a naked appearance at the 16th street BART station has been rearrested on unrelated charges.

Defendant Yeiner Perez first found himself of SFPD radar after unknown persons at the station captured his shenanigans on video.  The video shows a very nude Perez performing acrobatic feats on fare gates. Passengers said they saw him doing flips and handstands.   They also said he began to harass those in the area after the performance came to a close.

SFPD Still Trying To Solve 2012 Bay To Breakers Homicide

Members of the San Francisco Police Department (SFPD) are asking for the public's help.  A murder took place at the 2012 Bay to Breakers race, they said, and they need assistance in solving the year-old murder.

The incident unfolded on May 20, 2012 at approximately 5 p.m.  It was at that time that 30 year-old Stephen Parten was assaulted in Golden Gate Park.  The incident took place several hours after the annual footrace had concluded.  A spokesperson for the SDPD said that Martin and his friends were wearing troll costumes at the time.  He and his friends began to argue …

SFPD Stations Declared LGBT Safe Zones

The San Francisco Police Department Chief of Police declared that all SFPD stations are officially LGBT safe zones.  The department has a total of 10 stations located in areas throughout the city.   Signage will be posted in each window to ensure that members of the LGBT community know they can expect to receive courteous, respectful and compassionate interactions when they come in to report crime.

San Francisco Police Capture Serial Robbers

Two men who are alleged to be tied to a long list of armed robberies have been captured and detained by members of the San Francisco Police Department.

Authorities say the arrests came to play after an officer was involved in a shooting incident on March 5. A San Francisco Police Department spokesperson said that call began when they received a tip that a suspect was seen in a vehicle that had previously been reported as carjacked.   Attempts to stop the driver were unsuccessful.

SFPD Considers Use Of Stun Guns

 

Members of the San Francisco Police Department may soon be permitted to carry stun guns.

Chief Greg Surh believes that if the policy is implemented, officers would be able to engage in an alternate use of force in situations where perpetrators pose an imminent threat to their safety. A prime example of such an incident took place last summer, when a mentally ill man who had just slashed a coworker with a box cutter was being chased by police.  As officers cornered him he lunged toward them, arm and weapon extended.  Shots were fired.  The suspect died later in the …

Crime Fighting Plans Discussed By SFPD

A spokesperson for the San Francisco Police Department has said that steps will be taken in 2013 to lessen the number of violent crimes in the current year from levels reported in the previous 12 months.

Criminal activity has been a problem throughout the Bay Area, he said, agreeing that more needed to be done to increase safety on city and neighborhood streets.  Murder rates were up last year, having reached their highest level since 2006.  Crimes against property, such as burglary, also spiked by 40%.  Some have cited a belief that these rates could be directly linked to the …
