Leadership within the Los Angeles Police Department last week gathered to celebrate the lives of the more than 200 LAPD officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty.

Those men and women, they said, served in different time periods throughout the departments 145+ year history.

Once a week, the leadership within the Los Angeles Police Department gets together to review crime trends, analyize statistics and to discuss strategies to improve performance.

During a recent meeting,  they reported homicides were down, but the instances of shots being fired and the number of aggravated assaults had climbed month-on-month.

The last time the LAPD traveled to Israel it the cost of the trip toppled $18,000. That money, according to sources  within the department, is considered to have been well spent.
