Got Zombie Walk Vids? The SDPD Wants Your Help

Representatives from the San Diego Police Department say they're still trying to pinpoint what exactly happened during this year's Comic-Con Zombie Walk, when a car containing deaf passengers sped through an intersection and injured at least one person.

Now, they said, they're reaching out to the public and are asking for their help.

Anyone who has cell phone videos of the incident is asked to step forward, they said, since they're trying to view what transpired from every possible angle.

Police say it all started on Saturday July 26, when a family was driving through the downtown area.  At some point …

High OC Jail Collect-Call Fees To Be Addressed

Anyone who has ever received a collect phone call from someone in the Orange County Jail will tell you the cost is very very high.

The situation is so bad, according to sources, that the County Board of Supervisors is going to address the issue later this week.

At least one elected official has pointed out the high cost makes it hard for inmates to connect with family members, which keeps them from being able to lean on loved ones for support while they're behind bars.

Are LA Jails Violating International Laws?

African Americans make up less than 10 percent of Los Angeles County's total jail population, but account for more than 40 percent of those who have been classified as having a serious mental illness.

Students and faculty at the UCLA School of Law have prepared an eight-page report that alleges the LA County Jails are incarcerating racial minorities who are mentally ill inmates at unsettling rates.

The authors of the report feel that these inmate populations would be better served by other types of community-based programs and that jailing these men and women is not appropriate.

According to the report, black inmates …

Menlo Park Burglar Wanted For Grand Theft Box

It was the best of crimes, it was the worst of crimes...

Menlo Park Police say they're looking for a burglar who pulled off a rather anti climactic heist.  It all started several days ago when an unknown man broke into a local BevMo.

From there, he made a fast line to a box that (in theory) should have contained a $1,900 bottle of whiskey.  But it would seem the would-be thief was outsmarted by the store's manager, who had previously stashed the bottle in a safe,  locked area of the retail establishment.

The burglar did get away with the box, and …

San Diego Law Enforcement Holds Fundraiser For Slain Officer’s Family

A number of San Diego law enforcement agencies joined together last weekend to hold a car wash fundraiser to help raise money for a slain Escondido Police officer's family.

The officer was murdered several weeks ago by her husband in what appears to be a domestic violence incident.  Although the woman had only been with the Escondido PD for a short period of time, her supervisors said she was quickly becoming a leader among her peers.

Officer Laura leaves behind a small daughter.  Her husband, Freddy Rodas, has since been booked into an area jail where he's being held on murder …

Barbies Hiding Thousands Of Pounds Of Pot

A spokesperson for the San Bernardino Police Department said criminals' plans to make a bunch of money selling weed went up in smoke after officers found more than 10,000 pounds of marijuana that had been hidden behind a pile of Barbies.

Officers said it all started after an investigation pointed them in the direction of a truck depot.  When they arrived, they found a tractor trailer that smelled pretty suspicious.

When they opened the back they found what appeared to be a shipment of toys but upon closer look, they realized the dolls were little more than a decoy.

A spokesperson for …

Godzilla Arrested Nearly 60 Times In Past Two Years

A man who prefers to go by the moniker "Godzilla" has once again been booked into the San Joaquin County Jail.

Authorities say the habitual defendant is formally named Scott Swafford, and he's been arrested nearly 60 times in the past 24 months.

Most of his run ins with the law are for being drunk in public, according to jail staff, and in most cases, police bring him in so he can sober up.

At one point, he'd even been arrested three times in just four days.  In another instance he was arrested five times in less than two weeks.  Jail staff …

Fight Over Sean Penn Lands A Woman In Jail

A squabble between a couple over a famous Hollywood star has landed a local man in the Santa Monica Jail.

During the middle part of last month, Santa Monica Police Department officers were called to a local hospital to interview an assault victim.  When they arrived, the woman said she had been sitting beneath the 10 freeway with her boyfriend, smoking and drinking.

She was flipping through a magazine at the time, and at some point, she came across a photo of Sean Penn.  The woman mentioned to her boyfriend that she'd met the actor a few months prior and that …

How Not To Get Your Point Across

An Oakland man found himself in a pretty sticky situation last week after his hijinks at a City Council meeting landed him in jail.

No one is quite sure why 20 year-old Dante Cano was at the public meeting, but they are sure that he was out of order.  At some point, the man, who was screaming jibber jabber, ran toward and jumped on a raised speaking platform at the center of the room.

Officers said he was eventually detained, thanks to the efforts of community members and a city staffer.

The ball-cap and backpack-wearing young man was arrested and charged with …

Does The San Jose PD Have A Drone?

The San Jose Police Department may have denied having any records about a spy drone program, they've recently changed their tune.

It's not that they don't have one of these devices, they said, they've simply not flown it yet.

A few weeks back the SJPD said they didn't have any documents that supported the purchase of an aerial drone, but after some gentle pushing by the media, the paperwork managed to turn up.

Not only was there a purchasing slip, there was also an accompanying grant application to the federal government asking for assistance.

According to documents, the drone was acquired by the …
