In 2013, the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department partnered with Viking Charities to help families in need.

On Dec. 22,  Sheriff Lee Baca and other members of the LASD traveled to the Santa Monica Airport to pass out food baskets.  The goal was simple-  to provide holiday meal items to those who would otherwise have gone without.

Members of the sheriff's department are hoping to demo up to 100 area properties within the next 12 months through a new program that allows certain inmates to assist with these types of projects.  In order to be eligible, they must have been sentenced into the boot camp program.

Members of the Los Angeles Police Department have confirmed they're rolling out a new gun policy when it comes to domestic violence offenders.  Namely, the City Attorney's office will be notified every time a person who is a suspect in this type of case has a registered firearm.

But it doesn't stop there.

The City Attorney said he will start to prosecute domestic suspects, or anyone who has an active restraining order, when they try to buy a gun.

Victim advocates say this type of action is long overdue- especially when you consider that nine women die in this country every week …

Jealous Walmart Employee Opens Fire On Vehicle Of Employee Of The Month

Tensions at a Florida Walmart were flying high earlier this month, prompting one jealous employee to open fire at a coworkers car.

Why?  Because he was jealous she won employee-of-the-month.

Willie Mitchell started harassing Sonia Diogene shortly after she received the honor.  He felt the only reason she'd done so well was because he frequently helped her do her job, she said, and that he's the one who deserved recognition.

The woman said things got so heated she eventually felt the need to approach a supervisor.  Mitchell kept making threatening remarks, she said, and insisted he "would show her".

Quite a few people …
