Officers from the San Diego Police Department arrested a 17-year-old girl after a police chase on February 18. According to ABC news affiliate 10 News, police tried to pull over the teenager after she was caught speeding in her Honda Civic.

Police noticed the girl in the driver's seat as well as two male passengers when the chase began. Speeds reached around 55 miles per hour and covered a distance along Route 94 and southeast to the National City border, reports said.

Police communication records state that the pursuing officer heard a possible gunshot from the car while following the suspects. Eventually, the chase ended at an apartment complex in Southcrest, but the three individuals from the car attempted to run away. The female and a 19-year-old male passenger were arrested while the third suspect got away. Police continue to search for the third suspect.

When officers returned to the scene where reported gunshots were fired, they found a shotgun that had been destroyed on the road.

"They tossed the shotgun from the vehicle," said San Diego police Lt. David Rohowits. "It landed on the ground and a round went off. The round did minor damage to a vehicle that was parked."

ABC said the two captured suspects could face charges of weapons violations and the driver could face an additional charge for failure to yield.

Bank robber arrested after chase
In another chase, San Diego police were able to catch a suspected bank robber. The high-speed car chase reached speeds of 95 miles per hour and lasted for about an hour on February 16, NBC said.

Three suspects fled the scene of a robbery at the Wells Fargo in Kearny Mesa in a Dodge van. According to NBC, police were able to stop the van and arrested the driver and one passenger. The suspect in the back seat refused to obey orders before he jumped in the driver's seat and fled the scene.

NBC said the car eventually stopped and the third suspect was arrested and taken into custody.
