The San Diego Sheriff's Department is investigating a series of robberies involving convenience stores in the El Cajon and Lakeside neighborhoods. According to ABC affiliate 10 News, the robberies occurred during a span of two hours at four different 7-Eleven convenience stores in the early morning hours of February 18. Reports said the suspect was armed and video footage revealed he was wearing a "Sith" mask from the "Star Wars" movies.

Along with the mask, the suspect was also wearing a black jacket or sweatshirt with a hood. According to CBS affiliate KFMB, the man was carrying a small semi-automatic handgun.

Police were able to connect the robberies after other convenience stores reported similar suspect descriptions after they were robbed, the article said. During one of the robberies, the man pointed a gun at the store clerk and grabbed money from the register before he fled on foot.

Deputies arrest suspected bank robber
Another man who robbed a business in the San Diego area was identified while walking down a sidewalk. The man, suspected of robbing a bank in Vista on February 15, was arrested by San Diego sheriff's deputies. According to the San Diego Union-Tribune, two deputies had stopped Kevin Krutz while he was walking down the street and appeared to be under the influence of drugs. After the deputies approached Krutz, they realized he matched the suspect description for the robbery.

Krutz reportedly had a significant amount of cash on him when he was stopped and was eventually arrested on a drug charge and brought into the sheriff's station for questioning.

According to the Union-Tribune, once Krutz was arrested, he admitted to robbing the Chase Bank on South Melrose Drive and giving the tellers a note stating he had a gun. After his confession, Krutz was booked into a San Diego County jail.
