A San Diego police officer attempted to stop a potential suspect by jumping on a moving motorcycle January 24. NBC reported that the police officer was on the lookout for a stolen motorcycle when he encountered the suspect.

Around 10 p.m., the officer began to pursue the motorcyclist as he sped up the hill to Murray Ridge Road in Mission Valley. When the motorcyclist would not stop after the officer signaled for him to pull over, the officer jumped from the patrol car and grabbed the suspect. Instead of slowing down, the motorcycle continued moving and dragged the officer for an unknown distance, the article stated.

On January 21, another San Diego police officer was involved in an encounter with a suspect. The officer responded to a report of an “out-of-control” man at a 7-Eleven convenience store in University Heights, NBC reported.

The clerk of the convenience store told police that the man started yelling at other customers when he was refused service after he couldn't present identification to purchase a cigar.

According to NBC, when police arrived, the suspect and officer were involved in an altercation. While fighting, the officer lost his radio, which prompted other officers who were patrolling in the area to arrive on the scene. The store clerk who called police said, “they both were on the floor, just punching on each other.” However, the situation was under control before other officers could arrive.

The suspect was taken into custody following the fight with the officer and no one was injured.
