The San Diego Sheriff's Department is investigating three different robberies they believe were committed by the same individual between January 16 and January 21 in the neighborhoods of Santee and El Cajon.
Officials say an armed suspect approached a customer at a Mission Federal Credit Union ATM just before 11:00 p.m. January 16 and demanded the victim to withdraw the maximum amount of money possible, NBC reported. The suspect then grabbed the money from the victim before driving off.
Then, on January 21, a suspect approached a woman using the same ATM and put his hand into his waistband signaling that he was holding a weapon, the article stated. He then told the woman to withdraw the maximum amount of money from the ATM. The victim did not give the suspect money and ran to her car.
The third victim, a man, was at a Wells Fargo ATM in El Cajon on January 21 at 8:00 p.m. NBC reported that a suspect matching the same description as the previous two robberies approached the victim from behind. The suspect was armed with a black, semi-automatic handgun and demanded money from the victim. The suspect then grabbed the money and drove away from the scene.
Security cameras at the ATM were able to capture images of his face and car, and the images were posted online, according to Fox 5. A woman later identified the suspect and informed police on his whereabouts. Detectives were able to arrest the suspected robber, identified as George Tommy Adams. He has been booked in the San Diego Central Jail, according to the source.
Sheriff's department officials have encouraged bank customers to use caution when using an ATM and to be aware of their surroundings when choosing a machine. They also said if a robber approaches and demands money to turn over the money and get away from the suspect as soon as possible while noting the robber's description.
