A San Diego Police Department captain's son pleaded guilty to charges of assault and battery. The incident leading up to the charges occurred in August 2012 near a Pacific Beach taco shop. According to NBC San Diego, Alex Guaderrama allegedly assaulted two women and punched another in the face. He also reportedly broke a car window causing more than $400 of damage before leaving the scene the night of the incident.
Investigators said he later returned to the scene and informed police of what had happened before he admitted to drinking. The source reported Guaderrama was not arrested the night of the incident but officials followed normal protocol and filed a “notify warrant.”
Guaderrama was originally charged with four counts of sexual battery, one count of assault with force, once count of battery pursuant and one count of vandalism when he was arrested and later released in October, NBC said.
He pleaded not guilty to seven felony charges, the news outlet reported. However, when he returned on February 11, he pleaded guilty to two counts of battery, one count of assault and one count of vandalism for the damage he caused to the vehicle.
As a result of the plea, Guaderrama was sentenced to three years probation and is prohibited from using alcohol or drugs without a prescription, 10 News reported. He will also be required to wear an alcohol-monitoring device for six months and must complete 50 days of public work service.
His driver's license was suspended for 30 days and he was instructed to stay away from the three female victims via a protection order, according to the source.
