An officer with the San Diego Police Department was arrested October 16 after a domestic dispute at his Spring Valley home, the San Diego Union-Times reported. The incident has sparked an internal department investigation.

The wife of the 36-year-old officer called police before noon and described a domestic violence incident involving her and a child, the article stated. No injuries were reported. Jadarric Davis, the officer, was taking to the San Diego county jail on suspicion of misdemeanor child cruelty and for exhibiting a firearm in a "threatening manner," the jail records state.

Davis was released on $25,000 bail, according to the U-T. He has been placed on administrative duty due to the arrest, and the case is being reviewed by the San Diego District Attorney's Office, as well as the San Diego Police Department, to determine whether or not charges should be filed.

According to the San Diego Domestic Violence Council, 24 people died in the county in 2011 as a result of domestic violence. Seventeen of those deaths involved violence from a former husband or boyfriend, a CBS article stated. Five children also died from domestic violence disputes last year.
