San Diego Police Department officials are still searching for a suspect they believe was involved in a hit-and-run accident in February. According to CNS News, a 51-year-old man was hit with a car while he was crossing the 7000 block of La Jolla Boulevard on February 6. After the car struck the victim, a woman in a red Range Rover SUV allegedly chased after it, however, she failed to return to the scene of the accident or report the incident to authorities.

The suspect was allegedly driving a Toyota 4Runner or similar vehicle with license plate number beginning with the characters "5" and "D" and is possibly followed by a "6" or "G," according to the source. The victim of the accident is still currently recovering from his injuries.

If an individual is found guilty of a hit-and-run in California, he or she will most likely face some serious consequences down the line. According to Deadly Roads, a website dedicated to the memory of victims of hit and run accidents and hit and run crashes, if the driver of any vehicle injures other people involved in the crash, he or she will have to fulfill the requirements of V C Section 20003 Duty Upon Injury or Death.

According to the California Department of Motor Vehicles, the driver of a vehicle involved in a car accident must provide authorities with his or her name, current address and the registration number of the vehicle he or she is operating. If the individual fails to do this and flees the scene of an accident, authorities will search for the suspect until they find him or her.

The California Highway Patrol is also currently looking for the driver of a vehicle who was involved in a deadly crash on March 1. According to San Diego ABC affiliate KGTV, a 70-year-old man was hit and killed while he was walking up the on-ramp to state Route 163. Investigators were able to determine the man was the victim of a hit-and-run by examining his body.
