Authorities from the San Diego Police Department responded to reports of a shooting in Valencia Park March 14. ABC affiliate KGTV reported a man in his 20s was killed near Jacinto Drive and Trinidad Way in the San Diego neighborhood.

Witnesses reportedly saw a medium-sized sport-utility vehicle drive away from the area after the shooting occurred, but no suspects have been identified.

According to the San Diego Union Tribune, rescue responders found the man in the street upon arriving at the scene and noticed he had at least one gunshot wound. They attempted to revive the man and treat him for the wounds but he died at the scene.

Investigators will release the man's identity once they are able to locate and notify his family members, the article stated.

San Diego police investigating possible gang shooting
In another area of the city, the San Diego Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred on March 12 in Otay Mesa. According to KGTV, police and detectives are also considering the possibility that the shooting was gang-related.

A 21-year-old man was shot after a man wearing a black hoodie was seen running away from the location of the shooting on Chanute Street.

Police were reportedly called to the scene at around midnight after reports of shots being fired, KGTV said.

The victim of the incident was reportedly shot in the shoulder and suffered a collapsed lung. However, the man is expected to survive his injuries, KGTV reported.

Gang detectives opened an investigation into the shooting to try to determine if the incident was the result of gang involvement.
