Lieutenant Duran told the source that the two boys were taken to the hospital shortly after the police arrived to the scene. Police discovered the woman outside her home with a larger kitchen life threatening neighbors in a parking lot. According to KFMB, one of the officers discovered the woman arguing with two men who were trying to calm her down.

The officers asked the woman to put down her knife several times, however, she refused and charged at the officers with the knife over her head. When she did this, the veteran officer shot her and she was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after.

The woman was also suspected of stabbing the father of the two boys, according to CBS affiliate KFMB.

"As officers checked the area for the suspect, they were flagged down by a male also suffering from stab wounds," Duran said. "The male told officers that his girlfriend was acting irrationally and had stabbed him and their children."
