An Escondido restaurant owner has been arrested and may lose his liquor license after an inspection by the state's Alcoholic Beverage Control agents.  Though it started out as a routine inspection of Mexican restaurant Mariscos La Botana by Escondido police in conjunction with ABC agents, when law enforcement officials found out that owner Hector Martinez was currently on probation, they decided to do a thorough search of the facilities, The San Diego Union-Tribune reported.

The agents found about 10 grams of methamphetamine with a street value of about $1,000. Authorities also found $12,000 cash after searching his restaurant on West Washington Ave. near North Broadway, according to the Union-Tribune. The search turned up a loaded gun that had been reported as stolen out of San Jacinto, said Sgt. Craig Miller of the Escondido Police Department.

According to ABC affiliate XETV , the 28 year old Martinez was arrested on April 24 on suspicion of possessing methamphetamine for sale, possession of methamphetamine, possession of a firearm in the presence of narcotics and possession of a stolen firearm, Miller said. Martinez was booked into the Vista Detention Center, reported the Union-Tribune.

Congress passed the Comprehensive Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Act in 1971, classifying methamphetamine as a Schedule II drug, the most restricted category for prescription drugs, according to the Drug Policy Alliance. If anyone is arrested in association with this drug, they should contact a bail bondsman for assistance with the bail bond process.
