A former San Joaquin County Jail inmate has said he is thankful for the state's prisoner realignment program. The man in question, Dustin Cahoon said he feels blessed to have the tools to allow him to be on the straight and narrow.

SFPD Tenderloin Station Captain Will Be Missed
A spokesperson for the SFPD Tenderloin Station said Capt. Joe Garrity will be missed. Garrity announced his plans to retire early last month. He is 76-years old.
SFPD officials said he has worked at the Tenderloin station for approximately 27 years. During that time he spent 14 years working as a patrolman and eight years serving as sergeant. He later served two years as a lieutenant and was promoted to his current position as Captain in 2010.

The Contra Costa County coroner has confirmed the sheriff's department is not responsible for the death of a Martinez Jail inmate. Defendant Donald McCullough was taken into custody late last fall and was charged with burglary. Deputies said they needed to use a Tazer to subdue the defendant after he arrived at the jail. An officer with the Lodi Police Department is credited with finding two stolen cars and arresting three believed vehicle thieves. A department spokesperson said one of the cars was pulled from a local ditch.
