Bryden transferred to the Walnut Creek Police Department after spending 28 years in Southern California.  He will be retiring later this week and is proud of the legacy he has left behind. He is also very proud of the city's low crime rates.  If he could go back and change anything, he said, he would not change a thing.   The Walnut Creek Police Department has reportedly struggled in recent years due to staffing shortages and budget cuts.  It has not always been easy to navigate the waters, but Bryden feels  he was able to help steer the department through the economic crisis.   Bryden said the low crime rates speak to the commitment of WCPD officers.

A replacement has not yet been announced.  City officials have not said whether they have a candidate in mind or if they are still reviewing applications.
