Man With Five Dogs Investigated By Los Gatos Police

Members of the Los Gatos Police Department received a complaint call last week about a man who had five dogs living on his property.  The town code limits pet owners to having two canines, they said, and this man was in clear violation.

The unnamed 54-year old wasn't home when officers knocked on his door, but law enforcement did observe multiple dogs living on the property.  One police sergeant described them as an English Mastiff breed, which are known for growing quite large.

Four of them were located in kennels, he said, but the fifth was seen roaming free.

An official report …

Long Beach Police Chief Not A Shoe-In For LASD Sheriff

Long Beach Police Chief Jim McDonnell may have a long list of supporters in his bid to become the next LA County Sheriff, but that's not to say he's guaranteed to win the race.

Political analysts are saying he's by no means a shoe-in, and the winner in the upcoming election will need to have name recognition, community outreach and a deep-pocketed campaign.

This is the first time the seat has come open in a very long time, they said, and that's bound to make for an interesting race.

In fact, the last time the field was this open was in 1998. …

Long Beach Police Chief To Run For LASD Sheriff

Ever since LASD Sheriff Lee Baca announced he would not be seeking reelection, would-be candidates have been crawling out of the woodwork.

Long Beach Police Chief Jim McDonnell has announced he too will be running for the seat, citing a long list of "heavyweight" endorsements.   Not only is the current district attorney backing him, he said, but former district attorneys are have also given their support.

McDonnell is not new to Los Angeles law enforcement circles.  He once worked as second in command to former LAPD Chief William Bratton before taking the chief position at the Long Beach Police Department.

Those who …

‘Mama Said Knock You Out’ Game Is No Laughing Matter

Members of the Los Gatos Police Department have said that all suspects involved in a series of recent 'knock-out' attacks will be arrested and thrown in jail.

The most recent assaults took place at an area strip mall, and officers believe the assailants targeted their victims as part of the nationwide "Knock Out Game".   But that game, according to officers, is anything but.

Police say the attackers prey on unsuspecting victims.  These predatory men, and sometimes women, simply walk up to them and sock them in the face or upside the head.  The ultimate goal, they say, is to render …

Man Arrested In ‘Atomic Wedgie’ Death

An Oklahoma man is reportedly in custody today after police arrested him for the death of his stepfather by pulling his underwear up and out of the back side of his pants and stretching it over his head, a move otherwise known as an 'atomic wedgie'.

Authorities said that 58 year-old Denver St. Clair died a short time later of asphyxiation and trauma to the head.

The incident initially started out as an argument; Brad Davis had invited his stepfather over for drinks but at some point the two got into a disagreement.  One thing quickly led to another and the …

Man Arrested After Fight Over PB Sandwhich

It's unclear whether the sandwich in question involved creamy or chunky peanut butter.

The question as to what type of jelly may or may not have been involved still remains a mystery.

However, an Iowa man was jailed last weekend after he and his brother threw down over peanut butter sandwiches.

Authorities say the dispute broke out after 51 year-old Jerome Davis reportedly ate a half dozen PB sandwiches in about an hour.

This angered his brother for some reason and their disagreement quickly escalated into a shouting match.

At some point the now-defendant pulled out a switch blade and threatened to use it …

Looking Inside The LAPD Command Post

The Los Angeles Police Department Real Time Crime Analysis and Response (RACR) center is a living, breathing, 24-hour a day command post.

The unit operates at a location near the edge of downtown and it's a way for officers to keep an eye on crime and police placement throughout the city.   If an emergency situation takes place at an area mall, RACR can track all calls relating to the incident and can pinpoint where the nearest patrol cars are.

If a terrorist incident happens overseas, employees can watch the event in real time on network television and can dispatch local LAPD …

Trouble in the Air: In-Flight Crimes

For many people, getting on an airplane can cause a lot of stress.

To help stay calm, and maybe make the flight a little more enjoyable, they may have a drink or two before boarding or take a pill to ease their anxiety.

Others just grit their teeth and bear it.

Once in a while, though, there are those who don’t handle the stress well when they are on an airplane and do things that get them into a lot of trouble in the air.

Here are some memorable ski miles.
