CA Officals Will Fight Order To Release 10,000 More Prisoners

Elected officials from throughout California have pledged to fight a court order that requires the state release an additional 10,000 prisoners.   Many believe this will cause spikes in crime in all areas of the state.

The battle between the courts and state prisons has been going on for years.

Federal judges feel that overcrowded conditions is a violation of inmates' constitutional rights.   They had preciously ordered California reduce inmate populations to an extent that prisons are not operating at more than 137.5% capacity.

The state has almost complied.  Gov. Jerry Brown points out that inmate overcrowding has (more…)

Man Commits Robbery ‘Disguised’ By Clear Plastic Bag

Most criminals aren't known for their intellect.  This is especially true for the 41 year-old British man who robbed a gas station while wearing a clear plastic bag over his head.

It is unclear if he did not own a ski mask or if wearing it simply never crossed his mind.

The incident is said to have taken place in September 2012.  It was at that time that clear plastic bag-owner Jamie Neil and a 20 year-old accomplice decided to rob a UK service station.  Police believe both men were (more…)

Busted in New York for Wearing A Mask

It’s true, is illegal to congregate in public with two or more people while each wearing a mask or any face covering which disguises your identity according to New York Penal Law 240.35(4).

The anti-mask law actually dates back to 1845 when farmers renting property in New York would dress in disguise (often as Native Americans) in order to attack members of law enforcement. They were protesting the lowering of wheat prices and forcible evictions.

Fast forward 165 years… really? That can’t be enforceable.

Now think 2011, the Occupy movement was sweeping across the globe with protests taking place in more than …

Dog The Bounty Hunter Stands Up For Wisconsin Bail Industry

Duane Chapman, AKA Dog the Bounty Hunter, is standing up for the Wisconsin bail bonds industry.

Until recently, Wisconsin was one of four states that had outlawed for-profit bail bonds.  Recent legislation seems to have overturned that ruling. Lawmakers may have decided to give reintroduction of the industry a trial run.

Bail bonding had been outlawed in the cheese state about 35 years ago.  It was at this time that judges in Milwaukee County were reportedly accepting gifts, trips and meals from an area bondsman. Some legislators still feel the industry is (more…)

Defendant Insists 500 Pot Plants Were For Personal Use

Thang Vinh Hoang never expected narcotics agents would bust him for growing pot.  He was even more surprised to find himself being booked into the San Mateo County Jail.

California law allows medical marijuana patients to grow several plants in order to cultivate their own medicine.  Persons who have a doctor's recommendation are able to cultivate up to six mature plants at any given time.

Hoang, though, apparently took his love for horticulture a little far.  In March of 2012 a narcotics task force raided his home after a months long investigation.  Authorities reportedly saw the man coming and going from …
