SDSU Police Crime Blotter

College campuses are not immune from unlawful activity.  Despite the academic bubble environment, instances of crime can strike on any day at any time.

Below are just a few examples of recent calls to the SDSU Police Department.

On Oct. 27, a student called into report a potential transient had been spotted near the Zura Residence hall.  The caller said they believed this person was holding a knife, which drew some concern.  Police say the transient was last seen collecting cans and wearing a cloth to cover their mouth.  He or she has not been spotted since.

The following day, a short, unruly man was said to be running amuck through Love Library.  Witnesses say he was unplugging copy machines and tearing signs and posters off the wall. Officers said he was long gone by the time they arrived.

On Oct. 30, a student informed the department that an unknown person had stolen a photo of a concert ticket from his Instagram account. The thief was able to tangibly replicate it, and later used forged ticket to gain entry to the show.   Police are asking anyone who has further information about the incident to call in an anonymous tip.

During the late part of the afternoon on Halloween, an aggressive panhandler was reported to be harassing customers outside a local coffee shop.  He was last seen wearing dark colored clothing.

A DUI checkpoint also took place later that evening.  Nearly 70 vehicles were stopped throughout the county.  One driver was arrested and booked into the county jail, while a dozen others were cited for various vehicle code infractions.

SDSU Police also said they responded to a call that involved two freshman females who were believed to have alcohol poisoning.  Both women were taken to an area hospital at 1 a.m. on Nov. 2.

Lastly,  officers said three additional women were transported to Alvarado Hospital due to alcohol related issues.  Their updated status information has not been made public.
