A 24-year old woman and her spouse were booked into the Maguire Jail last week after a five-month investigation showed they were involved in a months-long crime spree.
Ashley Kirk and her husband were  reportedly arrested in Discovery Bay, according to court records, although this is not their first brush with the law.   The San Mateo County Sheriff's Department said they were initially picked up last fall for possession of stolen property.

Law enforcement officials believe the crime spree started as a result of Kirk's employment as a dog boarder.  Kirk may have collected personal data from pet owners, they said, and used that information to rob their homes while they were out of town.

The months-long investigation  reportedly led to the issuance of multiple search warrants and two arrest warrants.  Bail for each defendant has been set at $500,000.   Sheriff's records show both defendants are still in the custody of Maguire Jail officials.

The cost to purchase bail bonds for this offense would be 10%, or $50,000 per defendant.  A bondsman would also require the bonds be secured by collateral in the form of real property.

The defendants face charges of vehicle theft, conspiracy, residential burglary and possession of stolen property.  They are due to appear in court later this month.
