    KERN COUNTY JAIL SYSTEM

    The Kern County jail systems consist of several locations and facilities. Often, inmates are booked at one of the smaller Kern County jails.  If not bailed out, they are later transferred to the main Bakersfield jail.  We always recommend that you attempt to post bond at one the smaller jails because if the defendant is transferred to the main jail then you may experience significant delays in release from jail.

    The Central Receiving Facility is where inmates are taken from the Bakersfield area. The inmates are usually held in this facility pending their release, such as on a bail bond, or until their first court appearance. If the inmate is in custody past their first court date, they are usually transferred to the Lerdo Complex.
