BAKERSFIELD POLICE DEPARTMENT AND JAIL
The Bakersfield Police Department is committed to professional service which improves community safety and the quality of life. They do this by developing partnerships which promote efficient and innovative crime prevention, intervention and law enforcement service.
Their goal is to also provide for the safety and welfare of the citizens of Bakersfield, utilizing effective law enforcement systems.
This service also includes crime prevention, patrol and traffic enforcement, criminal investigation follow-up, crime analysis, vice and narcotic enforcement, gang suppression and community relations. Department business hours are Monday through Friday 8 am - 5 pm, except holidays.
When someone is arrested in the Bakersfield area, they will be transported to the main Bakersfield jail, which is operated by the Kern County Sheriff's Department, for booking and processing. During booking, a bail amount will be determined.
This process may take some time, so you may not hear from the defendant for quite a while, as they may not have access to a phone right away.
Remember, that while this jail is in Bakersfield, it services the entire county. The Jail is located within the building on the southeast corner of Truxton Avenue and Chester Avenue.
If you plan to visit, be prepared to have law enforcement officers scan your person with metal detectors as you enter the building.
BAIL BOND FEE & PAYMENT OPTIONS
The fee for a bail bond is generally 10% of the full bail amount, which is mandated by California state law. For example: If the amount of the bail is $15,000, you would pay $1,500 or 10% to have your loved one or friend released from jail.
Bail bonds typically require payment prior to the detainee's release.
We know in some cases this may represent a financial difficulty for your family. Should you need assistance with financing, we offer several bail bond payment options. We will let you know if you qualify within a few short minutes.
We can work out payments which carry no finance charges. We have found that using a credit card may the quickest, easiest way of paying for a bond. We always accept VISA, Master Card, American Express or Discover. You may, of course, pay by cash.
Once a bond has been arranged and paid for, we'll work quickly to post bail at the Bakersfield Jail. One of our agents can even meet you directly at jail with all of the paperwork.
