A man was taken to a San Diego jail October 28 after he allegedly beat his girlfriend and crashed a car into a police patrol vehicle and then fled the scene, the San Diego Union Tribune reported.

Tommy Madriaga had left a party with his girlfriend at the Embassy Suites on Harbor Drive around 12:15a.m. The 35-year-old was fighting with his girlfriend and reportedly slammed her head into the dashboard of her car as they drove away, the article stated.

More than 40 reportedly violate parole, probation in northern San Diego County

During a recent drug and compliance sweep in northern San Diego County, law enforcement officials arrested at least 43 people who  allegedly violated terms of their probation, San Diego 6 News reported.

"Operation Tip the Scale" was carried out by nearly 250 police officers, sheriff deputies and treatment professionals on October 24. They checked on 160 people who were on probation or parole in the Vista and Oceanside areas of the county, the majority of  whom had been charged with drug-related offenses.

Alleged robber to stand trial in December

The trial for a man charged with conducting numerous armed robberies in San Diego County will begin December 12, CNS News reported. Elvin Vincent Foster, also known as the "Be Cool Bandit," faces 10 robbery charges and a maximum sentence of 35 years and eight months in prison.

Police follow trail of cash, arrest suspected robber in Redwood City

A man who allegedly robbed a bank in Redwood City was arrested and is being held at a San Mateo County jail in lieu of $50,000 bail, the Palo Alto Daily News reported.

Redwood City Police Sgt. Sean Hart said the man, Kendrick Roby, is believed to have robbed the BBVA Compass Bank on October 22. Authorities were able to follow a trail of loose cash to the apartment complex two blocks away that officials say Roby had escaped to, the article stated.

The morning of October 27, local authorities found a suspicious package outside the San Diego Central Jail in downtown San Diego.

A deputy of the San Diego Sheriff's Department found the package leaning on the entrance gate of the jail, located at 1173 Front Street, the article stated. The package was reported as a "suspicious device" at 9:54 a.m., according to a San Diego dispatcher cited by CNS News. An 18-year-old man was arrested and is now in the Orange County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bail for allegedly shooting a BB gun at a school bus and other vehicles.

Police arrested Paul Joseph Horn after they received three reports from people being hit by projectiles from an air rifle, an Irvine Police Department statement said. Former college employees arrested in San Mateo County

Two former employees of a local community college were arrested for allegedly embezzling more than $100,000 in public money.

Bradley Witham and Mark Boustos were both recently fired from the San Mateo County Community College after being charged  with improperly using the college's credit card, CBS reported.

“One of the individuals was using a procurement card that belonged to the district, making transactions online, purchasing numerous electronic items, and then selling them on websites like eBay and Craigslist and making a profit,” said Deputy District Attorney Karen Guidotti, according to CBS.

The daughter of a wanted Mexican drug lord pleaded not guilty to an immigration charge after being arrested in early October and taken to a San Diego jail.

Alejandrina Gisselle Guzman Salazar, who U.S. officials say is the daughter of Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman, head of Mexico's Sinaloa cartel, was charged with document fraud, making false statements to federal authorities and for identity theft. She was caught allegedly trying to enter the country at San Diego's San Ysidro port of entry, The Associated Press reported. San Diego man held in custody

A San Diego man appeared in federal court October 25 for an arraignment on child pornography charges, but is also being tied to a bomb plot in New York City. Howard Willie Carter II previously pleaded not guilty to the three pornography charges, NY1 News reported.

A man arrested and jailed in Redwood City on a $500,000 bail earlier this year was granted probation and substance abuse treatment.
