Admit it. We've all had our moments where we think our dad is a jerk.

Then we look around...

Every day, thousands of fathers across America find themselves in trouble with the law.

Top 4 Reasons Other People's Dads Get Arrested

Drunk dads often make big mistakes.  Those who drink and drive with their kids can find themselves in trouble.   In 2010, a Pasadena man got drunk at a wedding and misplaced his son for several hours.  He told police he had been so drunk he didn't remember leaving the reception.

Oakland PD Gets Complete Overhaul

A spokesperson for the Oakland Police Department has said that efforts to overhaul the department are now complete.

Officers will now be assigned to work within one of five districts.  As of last weekend, at least three of them are up and running.   Consultants felt that dividing the city into districts, each being led by a captain, would help with crime fighting efforts.  Increased crime rates have been a big problem for the city within the past several years.

Incidents of violent crime are up, according to city officials, and the Oakland PD has lost hundreds of officers due to layoffs, …

It Is Illegal To Lick A Toad

You read that right. It is illegal to lick a toad. But not just any toad.

Specifically, it is illegal for a person to lick the Colorado River Toad, aka the Sonoran Desert toad, aka Bufo alvarius.
This species of toad secretes a venom that contains bufotenine which, when ingested, can cause hallucinogenic effects.

Bufotenine is a controlled substance in the United States. There were many arrests that were bufotenine-related throughout the Southwestern states, during the 1980s and 1990s. There was actually a toad-licking heyday during the 1960s and arrests were numerous..

No Expansion For San Joaquin County Jail

The San Joaquin County Jail has turned down more than $80 million in state funding that would have enabled it to add more bed space.

A spokesperson for the detention facility said this decision is a complete reversal from a previous push to expand. Back then, it was believed that having the ability to house more criminals would help reduce instances of crime within the county.

The County Board of Supervisors has pointed out that adding the planned 1,280 beds would increase the jail's operating costs by more than $70 million each year.

The supervisors feel that money can be better spent. A spokesperson …

Employee Request to Stop Jail Plan Denied

Last week, the Costa Mesa Employees Association was disappointed to learn that the Orange County Superior Court denied its request to stop the city’s plans to privatize the local jail.

This request was denied by Judge Luis Rodriguez because the City Council still had not reached its own decision to enter into a contract with G4S Secure Solutions.

Spokeswoman Jennifer Muir from the Orange County Employees Association, representing CMCEA, stated that the group “will continue to seek a preliminary injunction because we believe it is unlawful for the city to outsource the jail to the private sector.”
People who are supportive of …

LMFAO: Courts Need More Than Webster’s New World

Webster's New World Dictionary has long been the go-to in terms of defining the meaning of words.  In recent years they have included new additions such as tweet and unfriend.

The courts have often had a difficult time keeping up with the ever-evolving English language.

This has left judges and lawyers scratching their heads.  That was the case, according to those working in the legal field, until they discovered Urban Dictionary.

Many dictionaries do not have entries for words such as twerking, which is defined as being the booty-shaking dance frequently used by Beyonce; or YOLO, an acronym which means You Only …

Holy Smokes Batman: Spidey And Captain America Are In A Brawl

Costumed superheroes can often been seen walking along Hollywood Blvd.  This is not a hobby for the masked crime fighters.  It is instead a way for them to gain income.  Tourists can tip the spandex-clad men and women in order to cozy up along side them for various photo opportunities.

As you can imagine, times are tough for superheroes.  The economy has taken a toll on them, as well.

The competition along Hollywood Blvd. has become fierce.  Earlier last week, one Spider Man and two Captain Americas got into an all out brawl in some sort of turf war.

The not-so-super-friends started …

Women Check Beef Jerky Theft Off Bucket List, Get Arrested

Two Ocala, Florida women have been arrested and booked into the county jail.  Authorities said they were taken into custody after trying to steal beef jerky and bathing suits from a local Walmart.

Police asked the women why they tried to pilfer the items instead of paying for them.

The response?  "It was on our bucket list".

The phrase "Bucket List" has become increasingly popular since the 2007 release of a movie by the same name.

The most common definition of the term relates to a list of things a person wants to accomplish before they die.   Some people have jotted down things …
