The Santa Ana Police Department recently arrested two people involved in what officers are calling a kidnap-for-robbery/stalking case, CBS reported. However, officers said a third suspect involved in the crime has not been found.

Jose Paredes and the unknown suspect are accused of assaulting a man after pretending to be Ontario police officers. The other arrested individual, Rosa Tinoco, allegedly constructed the scheme to attack the man, who is believed to be her ex-boyfriend, according to CBS. Tinoco allegedly convinced the two men to carry out the assault on the victim after he ended their relationship.

The two individuals who committed the assault reportedly wore law enforcement clothing and carried badges around their necks. After identifying themselves as police officers, the victim opened his door and the assault occurred.

"They robbed him, they put him on his knees, and they beat him," Santa Ana Police Cpl. Anthony Bertagna said, according to CBS.

NBC reported the suspects then kidnapped the victim and took him approximately 100 yards away from his house by force and then proceeded to rob him. The men also reportedly used a stun gun to take the victim to the ground and beat him with a baton.

Police said Tinoco is believed to be the one who orchestrated the attack.

"We got information through an informant that Jose was claiming [Tinoco] was the mastermind and convinced him by paying him to do this," said Bertagna.

Paredes and Tinoco are being held in lieu of $1 million bail and awaiting a court date, NBC reported.
