According to a recent report in OC Weekly, ex-teacher Alex Bassinne accepted a plea deal on December 11, pleading guilty to inappropriate behavior with two teenage girls in Santa Ana as well as to the possession of illegal pornographic materials. Bassinne was sentenced to one year in Santa Ana jail, with three years of probation to follow.

Bassinne reportedly accepted the plea deal on December 11 from Orange County Superior Court Judge Craig Robison. He is scheduled to report to Santa Ana jail on January 11 to begin his sentence.

OC Weekly indicated that had Bassinne decided not to accept the plea bargain and fight the charges instead, if he lost in court, he could have been sentenced to more than nine years in state prison.

Bassinne's story dates back to April 2011, when he moved to Newport Beach with his family from his previous home in Laguna Niguel. According to a separate report in OC Weekly, Bassine left a disc behind in his old home that contained pornographic images. The new homeowners promptly turned the disc over to police. Police immediately searched Bassinne's Newport Beach home, where they discovered similar material. After the police discovered that Bassinne used to be a teacher, they began to investigate his former students, at which point allegations were brought against him.

The Orange County District Attorney's office brought two formal charges against Bassinne, regarding incidents that allegedly took place in 2009 and 2010.
