A Santa Ana Police Department officer has finally been given the opportunity to meet a woman whose life he saved many years ago.

Angela Clune woke up in her bedroom approximately four decades ago and discovered she was surrounded by smoke and flames.  The then-child was terrified and opened her mouth to scream.  That is when a police officer scooped up and carried her to safety.

That man brought her to a nearby window and passed her off to another policeman that was standing on the other side.

Clune said she never had the chance to meet the person who saved her life.   She and her family have been very grateful to the unknown stranger.

Former Santa Ana Police Department Officer Harlen Lambert credits Facebook for helping make the connection.  Clune was able to track down his page and posted a very kind and thoughtful message.    "It was a very beautiful thing you did," she wrote.

That message led to an agreement to meet face to face.  Clune and her rescuer made plans to reunite on July 13.  Lambert retired from the force several years ago.  He now owns a dog training business with his wife.

He said he was happy and surprised to hear from Clune.  Lambert admits the message caused him to tear up.  He shared the story with the other officer who is credited with saving the family from their burning home.

The Santa Ana Police Department had reportedly awarded Lambert a Medal of Valor for his participation in the rescue.  The granting of the award paled in comparison to meeting the woman whose life he saved.

Representatives from the Santa Ana Police Department said they are fortunate to have such dedicated people on their team.
