Here in California, we are continually talking about jail overcrowding.

But it's not just California's prison populations that are over run.

Out of all the countries in the world, the United States has the highest number of prison inmates at any given time.

Of all the people incarcerated around the world, 25% are in the US.

When 20 Minutes = Five Cents + 15 Hours In Jail

A Georgia man is little charged up about spending 15 hours in jail for plugging his electric car into a public outlet at his son's tennis practice.

Some say the officers' decision sets a dangerous precedent, especially considering how many of us charge our cell phones while on the go.

The story began when the Atlanta-based dad was waiting outside his son's school to pick him up from tennis practice.

Dad had some time to burn, and the car needed some juice.  The school had an outlet on one of the outside walls and he decided to plug the vehicle in.

Inmate At Calveras Jail May Attend Wedding

A Calaveras County jail inmate who is currently serving a five-year sentence for transporting large quantities of marijuana has been granted permission to attend his sister's wedding.

A spokesperson for the Calaveras County Sheriff's Department said the inmate's sister penned a letter to the Sheriff asking if her brother could walk her down the aisle.  Her father, she wrote, had passed several years before and would be unable to give her away. He agreed to honor the request.
