The family of a 51 year-old man who died while in custody at the Santa Rita Jail has settled their lawsuit for $1 million.
Court documents alleged that deputies beat, kicked, tased, improperly restrained and brutalized the man inside his cell block. He died approximately 48 hours later.
Half of the settlement is being paid to Martin Harrison's 10 year-old son by Alameda County. The county jail's healthcare provider, Corizon Health, will need to pay the balance.
