San Diego Police Department arrests shooting suspects

A 40-year-old man was wounded in Valencia Park after a possible gang-related shooting on March 7. According to the San Diego Union-Tribune, officers from the San Diego Police Department arrested two men the following day connected to the shooting.

The victim was attempting to get into his car when he was shot on San Alberto Way at approximately 9:45 p.m. Police told the Union Tribune the two men then approached the man and fired several shots using a handgun. The victim of the incident suffered gun shot wounds to his lower torso.

San Diego Police Department bust active meth lab

On March 6, San Diego Police Department officials arrested 16 people in the Cherokee Point area of the City Heights neighborhood for operating a meth lab. According to NBC San Diego, the police entered the home acting on a search warrant and found a large amount of methamphetamine.

Fox affiliate KSWB reported the officers had to call in the SWAT team for backup after they discovered what appeared to be a pipe bomb on the property. However, they were later able to determine it wasn't an explosive device.

San Diego Police Department officials are still searching for a suspect they believe was involved in a hit-and-run accident in February. According to CNS News, a 51-year-old man was hit with a car while he was crossing the 7000 block of La Jolla Boulevard on February 6. After the car struck the victim, a woman in a red Range Rover SUV allegedly chased after it, however, she failed to return to the scene of the accident or report the incident to authorities.

San Diego Police Department searching for bullies

Police are investigating a San Diego area threat that shocked the community. According to the San Diego Union-Tribune, a teacher at Coronado Middle School received a written threat on February 20. The school's principal Jay Marquand issued a letter to parents, urging them to understand the school and local authorities are doing everything in their power to investigate the threat.

Coronado city spokeswoman Lea Corbin added that although the teacher's name hasn't been released, the school also wants the public and its student body to know that investigators are attempting to make the school the safest environment possible.

San Diego Police Department officers are searching for a man suspected of shooting his girlfriend's cousin outside of an apartment complex in the 2500 block of J Street. According to NBC San Diego, the victim was taken to a local hospital trauma unit, where he was treated for gun shot wounds to his back and torso and is expected to survive. San Diego Police Department arrests man who tried to rob gas station

Officers from the San Diego Police Department arrested a man who recently attempted to rob a gas station. The man, 29-year-old Dominic Boykin, allegedly tried to rob the Rolando Mart on University Avenue, east of College Avenue around 7:30 a.m. February 24.

According to ABC affiliate 10 News, Boykin purchased cigarettes, and instead of leaving the store, approached the owner and simulated that he had a gun. As Boykin walked around the counter to demand money, the owner offered his own protection in an effort to deter the suspect.

A Riverside woman who was held at the Las Colinas Detention Facility on $2.1 million bail since her arrest last summer was due in court for a preliminary hearing February 21. The woman, Elizabeth Masters, faces several felony charges, including embezzlement by an employee, grand theft, theft by false pretenses, forger and willfully filing a false tax return, CBS affiliate KFMB reported.

According to KFMB, Masters was fired from her employer in December 2011 after they discovered she forged more than 700 company payroll checks and deposited them into her personal bank account. She allegedly embezzled nearly $6 million in the nine …

Gang detective pleads not guilty to misdemeanor charges

A San Diego Police Department detective recently pleaded not guilty to drinking and driving charges. According to CBS affiliate KFMB, 34-year-old Jeffrey David Blackford was allegedly off duty and driving his undercover police car when he crashed the vehicle into a roadside utility box in Allied Gardens on December 7. Blackford needed to be treated at a local hospital for injuries he sustained during the crash.

According to The Associated Press, Blackford was charged with two misdemeanor counts of driving under the influence with a special allegation of reckless speeding. He is scheduled to appear in court on March 27 and currently faces between four days and six months in jail along …

Officers from the San Diego Police Department arrested a 17-year-old girl after a police chase on February 18. According to ABC news affiliate 10 News, police tried to pull over the teenager after she was caught speeding in her Honda Civic.

Police noticed the girl in the driver's seat as well as two male passengers when the chase began. Speeds reached around 55 miles per hour and covered a distance along Route 94 and southeast to the National City border, reports said.

Two car chases in the San Diego area struck the community. According to CBS affiliate KFMB, San Diego Police Department officers arrested John Cummings at his mother's home after he led the officers on a police chase in a stolen vehicle February 17.
