The Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors point out they don't have unlimited funds.  Next month, however, they'll come together with county officials to hammer out next year's fiscal budget.

Proponents of the Affordable Care Act say it really is available to everyone

City Rejects Measure To Increase San Jose Police Spending

A lone City Councilman who wanted to increase police spending by 25 percent has had his plan rejected.

The idea was simple- reallocate part of the city's budget to provide additional funding to the San Jose Police Department.  As it stands, the city allocates 30 percent of their annual budget to public safety.

Had the plan been approved, this would have increased to 40 percent.

Although no one will argue that public safety is important, the mayor, other council members and city residents reportedly say the reallocation would have been disastrous.

Teacher Booked Into Martinez Jail On Sex Abuse Charges

Parents are shocked he was hired despite an ongoing investigation
A 32-year old middle school teacher who was fired from his old job on child sex abuse charges, but managed to get hired at a new school has been arrested.

The man in question, Ronald Guinto, has been working at the Mira Vista Elementary School since January.

The district said that while they did run a criminal background check on Guinto when he applied they never called the last school he worked at to get a reference check.

CA Law Enforcement Admits To Tapping Your Cell Phone Data

9 law enforcement agencies say they use StingRay technology
Big Brother is watching.

A recent news report shows that law enforcement agencies from throughout the state are using high-tech surveillance that allows police to pinpoint your location using cell phone data.

A public information record request shows the San Jose Police Department, LAPD,  LASD and San Diego Police Department are  among those who use StingRay.

Although no one will say exactly how it works, it's believed that cellphone tracking is being used to thwart terrorist plans and to disrupt terrorist networks.

9 Law Enforcement Agencies Connected to Cell Phone Spying Technology

Several Northern California law enforcement agencies have been connected to StingRay technology- a device used to assist law enforcement officials in tracking people and collecting data from cell phones within a set radius.

Kidnapping Attempt Thwarted By Little League Coach

Parents from throughout the county say they shaken after learning a 7 year-old boy was nearly kidnapped at an Ocean Beach park.

Money for Jail Expansion Secured for Fresno County

Several counties were recently vying for millions in state funding that will go towards expanding and improving county jails. Reportedly Fresno County will receive nearly $79.2 million, which will be used to add a new wing to its county jail.
