After San Diego County resident Daniel Sisson was tried in court for a drug possession charge, he and his mom expected that he would be released after he posted his San Diego bail bond. However, since 21-year-old Sisson had been on probation from an earlier conviction for similar charges, he was taken into custody to the Vista Detention Facility. According to CityBeat, just two days after Sisson's arrest, jail officials found Sisson dead in his jail cell. Judge Dolly Gee, of federal court for the Central District of California, in Los Angeles, recently ordered that courts in California, Arizona and Washington have to offer bail hearings for immigrants with mental disabilities who have been detained for more than six months. According to The New York Times, Gee said she wants the order to go into effect immediately, as most of the mentally disabled individuals were not able to fairly participate in their initial hearings, and many of them are currently exposed to "prolonged detention without adequate representation."

A 35-year-old man was recently arrested and booked into the Orange County Jail after he allegedly attempted to rob a Fountain Valley, California, bank. According to Patch.com, police arrested John Mclaughlin on April 22 after a witness called in the department's tip line. The witness told the police officers Mclaughlin had been acting suspiciously the moments before he allegedly attempted to rob the Fountain Valley Citibank. On the afternoon of April 21, Jeffery Thomas Smith pulled his recreational vehicle over on the shoulder of a California highway when he pinned a 59-year-old Temecula man between the RV and the man's car. Smith was believed to be under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident and was arrested. Parents booked into Orange County Jail on truancy charges

Six parents in Orange County, California, were recently arrested for allowing their children to be "chronically truant" from school. LAPD Says Community Members Play Key Role In Safety

In the wake of this week's bombings at the Boston Marathon, the LAPD has said that public reporting is important in keeping communities safe.

SFPD Stations Declared LGBT Safe Zones

The San Francisco Police Department Chief of Police declared that all SFPD stations are officially LGBT safe zones.  The department has a total of 10 stations located in areas throughout the city.   Signage will be posted in each window to ensure that members of the LGBT community know they can expect to receive courteous, respectful and compassionate interactions when they come in to report crime.

Representatives from the San Joaquin County Jail have confirmed they are detaining a man who is accused of shooting at vehicles earlier this week.
