A 35-year-old man who recently escaped from an Orange County jail has been found and arrested. The Orange County Register reported Marvin Manzo was being held at the medium-security jail James A. Musick Facility since early November for a probation violation. He escaped in late December, but was captured within less than a week.

Manzo has a history of theft and drug use, the article stated. Court records showed he was previously convicted of grand theft auto, attempted grand theft, vandalism and resisting arrest. He was originally sentenced to serve 180 days in the Orange County jail, but his recent escape could add an additional year to his sentence.

Instead of returning to the same jail he escaped from, authorities have taken Manzo to the Release Center in Santa Ana, the OC Register reported. The Orange County Sheriff's Department told the source they plan to transfer Manzo to the Men's Central Jail in Santa Ana or the Theo Lacy Facility in Orange County. Both of the facilities are for higher-security inmates. Theo Lacy is a maximum security jail, according to the Orange County Sheriff's website. It now can house up to 3,111 inmates and is the largest jail in the county.

The Associated Press reported police received a tip about Manzo's location and he was arrested as he walked on Anaheim Street. The source said his convictions were not violent and he was not considered a threat to the public while he was escaped.

Manzo is believed to have escaped the jail by climbing over razor wire that sat on top of the jail walls. He left behind his jail clothing and injured his leg in the process of the escape, the OC Register reported. Jail officials realized he was missing during an inmate count.
