An 18-year-old man was arrested and is now in the Orange County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bail for allegedly shooting a BB gun at a school bus and other vehicles.
Police arrested Paul Joseph Horn after they received three reports from people being hit by projectiles from an air rifle, an Irvine Police Department statement said. Two concrete company workers were also hit by the BB gun bullets at an intersection, but were not injured. Two vehicles and a school bus were reportedly struck between October 22 and October 24. One of the vehicles sustained paint damage from the shots. Two days later, another vehicle, carrying two high school students, had shots fired at it.
The window of the school bus shattered as a result of the BB gun fire and the driver of the bus was hit in the chin, according to the release. The driver refused medical treatment at the scene and the injury was reported as not being serious. At the time of the incident, the bus only had one passenger aboard, a 17-year-old, who was not injured from the shots. The Register reported that the passenger was a special-needs student. The other vehicle that was hit was occupied by two high school students.
Horn was arrested and charged with firing the shots from his backyard. He is being held on felony charges of assault and vandalism.
