Contra Costa Sheriff’s Deputy Flips Patrol Car

Authorities have confirmed that the Contra Costa Sheriff's Department deputy who flipped his car during a patrol in Richmond has not sustained major injuries.  The incident took place earlier this week while the deputy was en-route to a call.  Dispatchers have not indicated the nature of the call or the area from which it originated.

The deputy has not been identified.  Contra Costa Sheriff's Department officials say he was driving along San Pablo Avenue at about 11:50pm. He approached an intersection and took note of a truck that was doing the same.  The deputy reportedly attempted to swerve in order …

Fremont Police Say Gun Buyback Was Successful

The Fremont Police Department has said that two recent gun buyback events were a resounding success.   Nearly 340 weapons were collected, according to a department spokesperson.  Among the items turned in were rifles, hand guns and shotguns.  Officers distributed more than $50,000 to those who chose to hand over weapons.

Pittsburg Police Department officials also had positive things to say about their event.  Officers there distributed more than $56,000 to those who turned in old or unwanted guns.  They collected more than 290 weapons in total, they said.
