How Ballot Question 1 Could Change Bail Law

Voters in New Jersey today will be voting on a proposed constitutional amendment that, if approved, could fundamentally change how the state's bail bonds system works.

Proponents point out that if the measure is passed, it will also pave the road for a second big change; namely, allowing judges the discretion to release certain, low-level offenders on their own recognizance.  …

Voters To Weigh In On Controversial Bail Reform Law

On Nov. 4, a controversial ballot measure that could potentially remove the right to bail bonds for certain, pretrial inmates in New Jersey will be brought to the state's voters.

Current law grants all pretrial defendants the right to post bail; if voters give the bill a nod, the …

Top Three Things That Will Affect Your Bail Amount

Are Jails Overcrowded Because Of Greedy Bail Bondsmen?

If bail industry opponents were to have their way they'd have everyone convinced that jail crowding could be solved by getting rid of the commercial bail bonds industry.
