The San Diego County Sheriffs Department provides law enforcement services for the City of Santee on a contractual basis.  When someone has been arrested in the city of Santee, male arrestees will be typically be transported the San Diego Central Jail, located in downtown San Diego. Females will typically be transported to the Las Colinas Jail located right in Santee.

The booking process, which consists of a background check, photographs and fingerprints, can take from 2 to 4 or more hours depending on how busy the jail staff.
