Jail housing for the majority of female prisoners in San Diego County is provided by the Las Colinas Detention Facility in Santee, California.  It is estimated that approximately 13,500 bookings are made every year for female prisoners at Las Colinas on behalf local law enforcement agencies.

Some of these prisoners will be eligible for bail bond and others will not.  The Board of Corrections has issued a rated capacity of approximately 300 and the court has ordered a cap of approximately 500.
